Emma Wilkinson Portfolio

I am a recent English Literature graduate from the University of Leeds with plenty of experience writing and editing articles for my university newspaper, The Gryphon. I started by writing articles for the magazine section of the paper, covering fashion trends and giving lifestyle advice. I used my knowledge about trends and fashion aesthetics to create engaging and creative articles. 

I was appointed the ‘News Editor’ role in November 2024. I had to made sure the paper and the website were professionally written. I organised and hosted writers meetings, edited news articles, provided feedback for the writers, uploaded the articles onto the website and used Adobe InDesign to creatively lay out pages for the print editions. I still continued to write articles along with this role.

At the start of my final year at university, I was appointed the role of Newspaper Associate Editor. This role involved acting as a second pair of eyes for the Editor-in-Chief. I oversaw and analysed the final product of each print and spot checked the website. I also assisted the Editor-in-Chief in making important decisions and in coming up with new ideas for The Gryphon.

Having recently graduated, I am now eager and excited to start my career journey. I have a creative and open mind and am always enthusiastic about learning and challenging myself.
